First Indian men’s group in the Cowichan area to study the St. John Ambulance senior first aid course are seen in this Leader photo. Standing at left is their instructor, Mrs. Marjorie Langlois, Indian Agency health nurse, and at right is Bill Dalling, who examined the candidates. Kneeling, left to right: Mrs. Irene MacAdams, Mrs. Langlois’ secretary, who also took the course, Able Joe, Dennis Alphonse, Harry Dick and Simon Charlie. Mrs. Violet Charlie is the “patient” here; she also passed the first aid examinations.
